PSA Diesel DPF Systems

Peugeot and Citroen diesel vehicles use a unique DPF system that includes an additive injection system (Eolys/Infineum) to lower the soot combustion temperature. While innovative, this system adds complexity and additional failure points. The PSA group uses both Continental SID and Bosch EDC17 ECU families across their diesel range.

Common PSA DPF Issues

PSA vehicles face unique DPF challenges. The additive system can fail, leading to incomplete regeneration. The additive tank itself needs periodic refilling (every 70,000-120,000 km), and when it runs empty, the DPF cannot regenerate properly. Additionally, the 1.6 BlueHDi engines are known for turbo failures that send oil into the DPF, causing rapid clogging.

DPF Solution Approach

The approach differs between Continental and Bosch ECUs:

Benefits for PSA Owners

Beyond the standard benefits of DPF removal, PSA owners also eliminate the need for expensive additive fluid refills, remove the risk of additive pump failure, and avoid the common turbo-oil-DPF cascade failure that can cost 3,000+ EUR to repair at a dealer.
